On Wednesdays throughout the summer join us in the Memorial Garden for a brief service of compline followed by some time around the fire pit to chat and make s'mores. If the weather is not cooperating we will move our service inside the sanctuary.
Compline is a brief service descended from the night prayers said before bed at the end of the monastic round of daily prayer lasting about ten minutes. A simple and beautiful office including a confession of sins, one or more psalms, a short reading from scripture, versicles and responses, the Lord's Prayer, collects which ask for God's protection during the night to come, and the canticle Nunc dimittis.
