Compline

Every evening at 8pm you are invited to join us as we close our day in prayer. Compline is a beatuiful and brief service descending from the night prayers said before bed at the end of the monastic round of daily prayer. The service is under ten minutes long and includes a confession of sins, a recitation of a psalm, a short reading from scripture, versicles and responses, the Lord's Prayer, collects which ask for God's protection during the night to come along with free intercessions and thanksgivings, and the canticle Nunc dimittis.

Compline is streamed live every night on our Facebook page. On Tuesday & Thursday you can also join us on for this service on Zoom, please be in touch with Fr. Patrick (patrick@stjohnsbarrington.org) for the Zoom invite information.

Morning Prayer on Sundays

Join us on Zoom or our Facebook Page on Sunday Mornings at 8 for Morning Prayer. A bulletin for our service, along with the Zoom login info, is sent out as part of our Weekly E-blast on Thursdays, you can sign up for that here.

This service consists of a few sung hymns, readings from scripture, a sermon, and prayers from the Book of Common Prayer.

Holy Eucharist on Sundays

On Sundays we gather together for Holy Eucharist at 10am and 5:30pm. If you would like to attend either of these services you are required to wear a mask at all times and remain appropriately distanced from others and we ask that you arrive ten minutes early to check in with the ushers for symptom screening.

At 10am we gather in our parish hall, we have chosen Field Hall over the sanctuary because our sanctuary does not have windows that open, being in Field Hall allows us to open the windows for more air circulation than we would have in the sanctuary. Being indoors our space is limited so we ask that if you wish to attend you call the office during the week to reserve a spot. If you do not call and reserve a spot you are not guaranteed a seat.

At 5:30 we meet in the Memorial Garden behind the church by the flag pole. Being outside we are a little more flexible with numbers so no reservations are required, but we ask that you bring your own chair or blanket to sit on. For the time being if weather does not permit us to meet outside we will have a service of Evening Prayer streamed on Zoom and Facebook Live. We are working on implementing procedures that will allow us to have multiple services inside on the same day, hopefully we will have these procedures finalized in October.
